A post made by the official Downing Street Instagram account celebrating Northern Ireland culture that featured an Irish tricolour was removed and then reposted recently.
On Monday, businesses across Northern Ireland were invited to a reception with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to celebrate the culture in the North.
Following the event on Tuesday morning, the 10 Downing Street Instragram account posted a picture of two dancers who had taken part in a night as well as other photos from the event alongside a caption which read “showcase some of the best produce the country has to offer”.

The original post read: “Yesterday we celebrated the culture of Northern Ireland with a reception in Downing Street. Businesses from across Northern Ireland arrived to showcase some of the best produce the country has to offer.”
It was also posted alongside an emoji of the Irish tricolour at the end of the caption.
However, this post was quickly removed and a second post, which did not feature the Irish tricolour, was instead posted - with the same words in the caption.
A spokesperson for 10 Downing Street told the Irish Mirror that the post was made "in error" and was quickly deleted
People across social media were quick to jump on the ‘error’ and point out the gaffe that had been made, including Blindboy and Richard Chambers, with multiple posts being made across X about the post and many comments on the original post pointing out the flag.
