Big Brother viewers have slammed the show for the 'brutal' twist that saw a housemate get evicted.

On Thursday, housemates were reading their 'letters from home' but, in true Big Brother fashion, it didn't come without a shocking twist. During the episode, Matty chose Yinrun to read out his 'letter from home', which she said she was 'honoured' to do.

"Dear Matty, where do I begin? I have enjoyed watching you so much. It's been great to see your friendships with your Housemates develop. Your humour, kindness and sensitivity have always been at the heart of everything you've done," Yinrun read. "I know there have been tough times, but your strength and resilience have always shone through to help you navigate those difficult paths, as well as your dancing.

Matty cried as Yinrun continued reading: "From the second you walked through the door on that first day, I have been watching you. I've listened to every word you have said. I've even watched you sleeping. With every day that's passed you've grown stronger but always remained true to yourself. I'm so proud of you. You've been a great housemate. But unfortunately, your time is up. The public has been voting. Matty, you are the 11th housemate to be evicted. It's been a blast. Love, Big Brother."

Matty didn't seem too upset about the eviction as he was "ready to go". However, his fellow housemates and viewers at home were shocked at the cruel twist as Yinrun burst out crying while others gasped in disbelief at the twist.

"It's my time to go, 100 per cent. It's my time to go. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this experience. I'm so grateful and I will forever be speechless. I just want to say thank you so much, thank you," Matty said in his final words before leaving the Big Brother house.

Fans were in shock over the eviction and took to social media to comment on it. One user said: "Matty was such a nice guy he didn’t deserve to be evicted like that !!!!" while one user posted: "This eviction was really Brutal. Every other person got a nice letter from their family, Matty’s own had to be eviction."

Another fan said: "Most shocking Eviction ever," while another called it the "cruellest twist in the show's history." One viewer commented: "I still REALLY disagree with Matty's exit. As a massive #BBUK superfan and as a great housemate he deserved to walk out those front doors with the countdown and to hear the crowd cheering him. It doesn't feel right."

One disappointed user added: "Cruel, poor fella thought he was getting a letter from home like everyone else.."
