Bruce Springsteen surprised fellow singer Shane MacGowan with a visit to his family home ahead of his triple header in Dublin.

The global superstar landed in Ireland's capital as he takes his Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tour to the RDS Arena for three dates on May 5, 7 and 9.

The 73-year-old artist popped in to see The Pogues frontman with MacGowan's wife Victoria Clarke capturing the sweet embrace of the two musicians.

Sharing the heartwarming picture of Springsteen and MacGowan, she said: "What an amazing honour and a beautiful experience to get a visit from The Boss!!!⁦@springsteen @ShaneMacGowan. Such a truly wonderful man and a total genius!"

Fans took to the comments to express their delight with one person saying: "This made my whole day! There is a whole lot of awesome in this photo!!!

He is set to perform at Edinburgh's BT Murrayfield at the end of the month before a one-off show at Villa Park in Birmingham in June before concerts at BST Hyde Park in July for the only dates in the UK.

Bruce kicked off the European leg of his tour last week with two shows in Barcelona and will continue to perform across the continent over the next two months.

It was at the Estadi Olimpic for his opening show of the European stint last Friday when 'The Boss' was aided by a uber famous backing vocalist.

Former first lady of the United States of America Michelle Obama left fans filled with delight when she got up on stage alongside Stephen Spielberg's wife Kate Capshaw.

Michelle, 59, left onlookers and concertgoers in a state of awe as she was seen playing instruments and providing backing vocals for the legendary singer.

Singing the hit Glory Days on-stage with Bruce and the E Street Band, Michelle could be seen getting into the groove while tapping on a tambourine rhythmically.

With her hair styled in a half-up-half-down look, Michelle could be seen donning what looked like some blue wide leg cargo trousers, a matching blouse and a black blazer with a brooch on it.

The concert took place after former president Barack Obama, Spielberg and Springsteen dined out the night before.
