Investigators fear it is only a matter of time before someone is killed - after yet another gun attack linked to a Dublin feud.

Sources have told The Irish Mirror that gardai are probing whether a shooting attack on a house in Tallaght, south Dublin late on Monday night is the latest instalment of the feud – which is becoming more and more vicious.

They say the gangs don't care who gets in their way - and it is entirely likely that people unconnected to criminality will be hurt in the feud, if it continues.

Sources have stressed to us that, although the feud is between two gangs, innocent individuals who are not involved in any criminality are being targeted in the feud.

"The fear is this is only going one way," a source told us.

"It’s getting worse and we do fear someone will be seriously injured or killed if it continues the way it is."

In the latest incident, a man fired a semi-automatic pistol at a house in the Tymon North area of Tallaght on Monday night and it's feared innocent people could have been hurt.

Several shots were fired at the house – but nobody was injured.

But the shooter was targeted as he tried to escape on a bike – and was rammed by a car.

It’s understood he was forced off the bike and had to escape on foot.

Gardai were hunting for the gunman last night – and they believe he was injured in the ramming.

"The suspicion is he was hurt when he was rammed, but we will only know once we find him," a source said.

Gardai confirmed to us that they were investigating a shooting incident on Monday.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating the discharge of a firearm that occurred in Tallaght, Dublin 24 on Monday night, 14th August 2023.

"The incident took place at approximately 11:30pm in the Tymon North area. There were no injuries reported.

"Three vehicles (one van, one car and an e-bike) were seized by Gardaí and removed from the scene for technical examination.

"Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.

"Anyone with any information that can assist Gardaí with this investigation is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station on 01 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."

Sources have told us that investigators are working on the theory that the shooting is connected to the Tallaght feud – which has been going on for several months.

The feud is believed to have started over a massive €1.7 million cocaine debt – and the two sides are digging for a long fight.

Just last month, gardai policing the feud recovered a pistol after two men were rammed off a motorbike in Tallaght.

Gardai rushed to the scene of the shocking collision in Fortunestown in Tallaght after the motorbike was rammed off the road by another vehicle on July 11.

After arriving at the scene, gardai discovered a loaded firearm. The car believed to have been used to ram the bike fled the scene and officers immediately mounted a search.

A car was later discovered burnt out and is believed to have been the vehicle used to ram the bike.

Gardai suspect gunmen were on their way to carry out a murder attempt in the feud.

The war has already seen multiple incidents - including a pipe bomb being brought into Tallaght Garda Station in May.

During the course of the dispute a grave was also desecrated in May.

Officers fear the bitter dispute has turned deeply personal and there are fears that lives could be lost.

We have established that there have been several fist fights between the two gangs – and a number of homes have also been petrol bombed.

There have been other serious incidents including one in which shots were fired at a man in Tallaght in May – but he escaped injury.

Following that incident shots were fired at a house in the Tallaght area - an incident which was filmed on CCTV - and the footage then spread online.

The footage shows the shooter arriving at the scene on an electric bike - stopping in front of the house and producing a handgun.

The masked figure is seen aiming the weapon at the house before he lets off a number of shots.

Gardai, including officers from the Armed Support Unit, have mounted a series of raids and searches in an effort to disrupt the rival gangs.
