The best GAA players in the country poured into the RDS in Dublin on Friday evening for the 2023 PwC GAA/GPA All-Star Awards.

Those who won hurling All-Stars had been known prior to the bash, with that team being named early on Thursday morning, but the football XV as well as the Footballer and Hurler of the Year award winners were only named on the night.

In hurling, All-Ireland champions Limerick picked up seven All-Stars (Dan Morrissey, Diarmaid Byrnes, Kyle Hayes, Darragh O’Donovan, William O’Donogue, Tom Morrissey and Aaron Gillane), while Kilkenny had five (Eoin Murphy, Mikey Butler, Huw Lawlor, TJ Reid and Eoin Cody), Clare had two (John Conlon and Shane O'Donnell) and Conor Whelan was Galway's sole representative.

Meanwhile, the football team saw All-Ireland champions Dublin scoop five awards (Stephen Cluxton, Mick Fitzsimons, James McCarthy, Brian Fenton and Colm Basquel), while Kerry had four (Tom O'Sullivan, Sean O'Shea and Paudie Clifford and David Clifford), as did Derry (Conor McCluskey, Gareth McKinless, Brendan Rogers and Shane McGuigan). Enda Smith became the first Roscommon man since 2001 to win an All-Star, while Monaghan's Conor McCarthy also won one.

David Clifford became the first ever back to back Footballer of the Year, while Aaron Gillane became the third consecutive Patrickswell man to be named Hurler of the Year.

The banquet took place at the Ballsbridge venue and was shown live on RTE.
