Girls Aloud have secretly reformed and filmed a brand new video in advance of a full album and a reunion tour - while also making a touching tribute to late bandmate Sarah Harding.
The iconic chart topping girl group was formed in 2002 when Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh were joined by Sarah and brought together as a new music outfit on ITV's Popstars: The Rivals. Tragically, Sarah lost her life in 2021 at the age of 39 following a battle with cancer.
The band have been out of the charts for more than a decade - with their last single, Beautiful ‘Cause You Love Me, being released back in 2012. But now the group have reformed and secretly filmed a music video in North London for their first single in 11 years.
The new track from Cheryl, 40, Nadine, 38, Nicola, 38, and Kimberley, 41, has been dedicated to Sarah. The video is said to see the girls transform into super heroes, featuring capes and Wonder Woman style outfits.
The Sun has the scoop on the new music video and future release plans. A source told the publication: “This has been one of the best-kept secrets in pop, but it’s actually happening now.
“The girls really came back together as friends to rally around when Sarah died, and it repaired some of the old rifts and put things into perspective. Suddenly the reunion which had seemed totally impossible for so long just felt a totally natural thing to do — in Sarah’s honour.”
The source went on to reveal: “They’ve got a single and a video in the can, plans for a full record of new music, and for the fans the most exciting thing will be a massive reunion tour in 2024.”
The report claims that each of the four band members were driven to a North London location to film the video - and they were hidden beneath caps and shades to avoid them being recognised. The source also notes that the remaining members feel “bittersweet” over their reunion and are ensuring Sarah’s memory will be honoured by the new music.
Girls Aloud had previously reunited in October last year to attend a charity ball in honour of Sarah who had urged them to come together to raise funds to fight the disease. And the ladies came back together again in September this year to celebrate the wedding of celebrity publicist, Simon Jones.
Last month, Girls Aloud superfine predicted that a reunion was on the cards when they noticed details of a brand new company called Lets Go Eskimo Productions LLP being registered on Companies House. Fans noticed the new company listed Cheryl, Nicola, Kimberley and Nadine listed as owners.
News of the official reunion has sent fans into a spin with many flooding social media already to express their excitement about the new music and tour plans. One fan wrote on X: "Girls aloud are getting back together. I could throw up omg."
