It looks like the umbrellas and rain jackets can get a well-deserved break next week after being relied on so frequently in recent weeks.
The return of more settled weather conditions is just days away but, unfortunately, we will have to endure quite a wet and windy weekend before high pressure grants Ireland some respite from the rain and gusts.
Popular forecaster Alan O'Reilly, who mans the ever-reliable @CarlowWeather X account, has pinpointed Monday as the day when the weather will likely take a turn for the better, according to latest models.
He posted: "A windy and showery weekend and that will continue to into early Monday but the rest of next week will see a more settled spell for most areas with rainfall amounts below normal as high pressure builds close to Ireland."

That tallies with Met Eireann's official forecast for next week as plenty of showers and windy conditions are anticipated over Saturday, Sunday and Monday before a period of dry weather.
A Met Eireann spokesperson said: "Monday will be cool and breezy with sunshine and showers. The showers most frequent over Ulster, Connacht and north Leinster. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with fresh, gusty northwest winds, strong on Ulster and north Connacht coasts.
"Tuesday will be cold and mainly dry with sunshine and light winds. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees. Cold and dry on Tuesday night with some mist and fog and a touch of frost possible in places with lows of 2 to 6 degrees.
"Wednesday, Thursday and much of Friday look to be mostly cloudy with a fair amount of dry weather and some patchy rain or drizzle at times, most likely in parts of the north and west near coasts. Highest temperatures of 11 or 12 degrees with mostly moderate westerly winds, fresh at times in the north and light in the southwest."
