Love Island star Scott van der Sluis has surprisingly hit out at the show's narrator, Iain Stirling, in an online outburst.
The 22-year-old Welsh professional footballer took aim at the 35-year-old Scottish comedian after he made a joke at his expense. Scott was one of the contestants on Love Island in the summer of 2023, only to almost immediately appear on the US version of the show days after his exit from the villa in Majorca in July.
He is now currently a contestant on the spin-off show Love Island Games where he is competing for love and victory alongside a string of other Love Island stars from around the world. And Iain appeared to poke fun at Scott while commentating over the action of the reality series - which airs via Peacock in the USA and is due to stream via ITV soon.

Without referencing Iain’s comments, Scott sparked surprise when he shared a number of images from the Love Island Games alongside an abusive caption. The blunt message stated: "F*** you @iaindoesjokes #LoveIslandGames."
Seemingly alarmed, Iain responded to the abusive message to bed: “What have I done!?” adding a kiss to the question for good measure. And it seems Scott’s outburst was prompted by a cheeky quip that Iain made in reference to the fact that he seems willing to sign up for any variation of Love Island that’s airing anywhere in the world.
Scott clarified: “[You] told everyone I’m going Love Island Lithuania ffs they’ve dropped me now.” Iain then replied with a joke of his own, writing: “No worries Love Island Iceland next month!”
Iain himself narrates the UK and USA versions of Love Island as well as the Games spin-off. While there are further versions of Love Island around the globe including in Australia, Albania, Germany, France, Norway, South Africa and Sweden - among others.
Back in 2022, rumours swirled that Iain would quit Love Island after his wife, Laura Whitmore, was dumped as the host of the show. Social media was abuzz with speculation Iain would go, with one writing when news broke that Laura had quit: “WTF is this off-season?!?!?! Also any update on Iain? Wasn’t it rumoured he’d walk if Laura walked?”
Even bookmakers were convinced it was the end of the road for Iain, with a spokesman for Paddy Power saying at the time: “It looks like it’s Laura Whit-no-more for the outgoing host, so Love Island bosses will be searching for her replacement. Given their ‘coupled up’ status, it’s now looking more likely that Iain Stirling will follow suit and leave too. That would certainly be a shock double dumping that even the show’s producers couldn’t have conjured up themselves!”
While the comedian has continued to enjoy success on Love Island, his own show CelebAbility was axed by ITV this year after seven seasons and following dismal viewing figures. ITV confirmed the game show had been given the axe, saying earlier this month: “There are no current plans for another series."
