Junior, a King Charles spaniel, had been part of their family for more than 14 years, she explained.
“He has lived through so much. Our wedding 12 years ago, most of the kids’ special occasions. He was my Little Rock when I was unwell last year,” Jenny said.
“He was just the best. I’m going to be lost without him,” she added in the emotional message, saying it had been “the most emotional 24 hours”.
Martin shared the post and added three heart emojis with the words “RIP Junior”.
Many of Jenny’s followers offered their condolences following Junior’s death and sent messages of support to her family, as reported by RSVP Live.
“So sorry Jenny, losing a beloved pet is so difficult. Lots of love xxx,” wrote Rosanna Davison.
Martin’s former co-presenter Lucy Kennedy added: “Oh no!!! Jenny and Martin I’m so sorry to hear this, it’s so hard. I’m thinking of you all. Lots of love Xxx”
Karen Byrne wrote: “Awwww no. Can’t even imagine how you guys are all feeling. Thinking of you all.”
Another follower described the news as “awfully sad” and remarked that the loss of a pet is “as devastating as a [the loss of a] member of the family because they are one”.
“So sorry for your loss Jenny. Losing a pet is so hard. He was lucky to have such a loving home,” added a commenter.
“Awww Jenny!!! I’m so sorry to hear this. I know how much pets mean to us all. Sending lots of hugs your way,” wrote another person.
