Gardai have issued an appeal for witnesses following a serious crash involving a car and a motorcycle in Co Kildare last night.
Emergency services rushed to attend the scene of the crash shortly before 9.30pm on Friday night after receiving reports of a collision on the R418 at Fontstown Cross, between Athy and Kilcullen.
Upon arrival, Gardai and emergency medical personnel discovered that the man who had been riding the motorcycle, aged in his 20s, suffered significant injuries in the crash and he was immediately transported to Tallaght University Hospital, where his condition is understood to be critical.

The occupants of the car are believed to be unharmed.
This morning, Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have resumed a full examination of the crash site, resulting in local diversions being put in place.
A witness appeal has been issued, with gardai particularly eager to hear from anyone who may have video footage of the area around the time of the collision.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Those with camera footage from the along the route at the time of the collision, including dash-cam footage, are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.

"The investigation is ongoing."
