Residents are being 'driven mad' from building noise at Conor McGregor's €100m apartment complex in Dublin with reports that builders are breaking curfew times.
The Irish Sun has reported that builders of the South Dublin site have strayed beyond their 6 pm curfew and that drilling has continued close to 7 pm.
Local rules say that heavy and noisy machinery must be stopped by 6 pm, but reports indicate this has not been the case. Although permits can be granted for a later curfew the council must inform residents but it is reported no notice has been sent out.
Speaking to the Sun, local Green Part Councillor Michael Pidgeon said: “It’s a very noisy site because of the drilling.
“It’s definitely gone beyond 6pm at times and I don’t know if they are permitted to do that.”
While one resident told the newspaper: “Last night they didn’t finish until well after the 6pm curfew. It wasn’t just a small amount of building going on, or a couple of workers, it was foundation drilling into the ground and it was extremely loud."
McGregor purchased the site for some €19 million and plans to build 300 apartments with 250 of those set to be built to rent and construction began on the site earlier this year.
The UFC star has made several investments in Ireland including the purchase of three pubs, the Marble Arch which adjoins the site, the Black Forge Inn in Crumlin, and the Waterside in Howth.
The Dubliner also built eight social housing units during the pandemic which he said were for homeless families to move into.
McGregor is also reportedly set to purchase a pub right in the heart of tourist hot spot Temple Bar as he continues to expand his portfolio.
As for a UFC return, the former two-weight champion looks set for a comeback fight against Michael Chandler next summer after nearly three years away from MMA action.
McGregor suffered a horror leg break during his last bout against Dustin Poirier and has not been in the octagon since.
