The wife of Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan has said her rocker husband is praying for “ peace and love” as she shared a picture of him in hospital.

Shane’s wife, music journalist and author Victoria Mary Clarke has kept followers updated on Shane’s wellbeing since the 65-year-old singer was admitted to the hospital in July to be treated for an unknown illness.

In her most recent update in a post on X, Shane’s long-time wife, wrote: “Shane is praying for peace and love for everyone in the world.” Alongside a picture of a smiling Shane in hospital.

Sharing love and support back, fans and followers flocked to the comments to shower the iconic Irish singer with well wishes.

One wrote: “Lovely! Thank you, Shane! We're also sending great energy right back at you, legend!”

Another added: “God Bless You, Shane. You are and always have been my inspiration, and for your works and contributions, you deserve the Nobel Prize.”

While one more wrote: “All love and blessings to you both. May peace surely come. And may Shane be home soon.”

More shared the sentiment, with a fan writing: “Hope you get well soon Shane. Your music touches us so deeply.”

Earlier in October it was revealed that the legendary singer was “devastated” to miss the funeral of his close friend Sinead O’Connor, a private ceremony which took place in August that Victoria Mary attended but Shane could not due to his health.

Over the months since the music legend was admitted to hospital, famous pals have come to visit the singer, including Daniel O’Donnell, Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie, Imelda May, Clannad’s Moya Brennan and fellow Pouges member Peter Richard "Spider" Stacy - who played tin whistle with the group.
