Shane MacGowan’s wife Victoria Mary Clarke has shared a positive update on The Pogues singer's health.
The Pair Of Brown Eyes singer was reportedly diagnosed with viral encephalitis in December last year, and has been in and out of hospital since, but has now been receiving inpatient care after being admitted in June.
Victoria has been keeping fans updated on her husband’s wellbeing on social media since the 65-year-old musician was admitted to intensive care.

In her most recent post, Victoria revealed that Shane is feeling “much better” today, adding that she is grateful to those willing to “get home for the Christmas”.
Victoria wrote on X (formally Twitter) alongside a picture of the song maker in his hospital bed: “Shane is feeling much better today! I am so grateful to everyone who is willing him to get home for the Christmas!”
Words of support poured in for the legendary Fairytale of New York songwriter, with people flocking to the comments of Victoria’s post to wish Shane the best and hoping he will be “home for Christmas”.
One follower wrote: “Delighted Victoria to hear Shane is feeling better. Sending you guys all of my best wishes”
Another penned: “May the good wishes and warm thoughts of those who care about you bring a little cheerfulness into your world and help you feel better.”
While a third added: “Saying prayers Victoria Mary and sending love to Shane and I hope & pray he'll be home for Christmas.”
Throughout his hospital stay the Pogues legend has been visited by a plethora of musician pals, including bandmates Spider Stacy and Terry Woods, Daniel O’Donnell, Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie, Imelda May, Clannad’s Moya Brennan and Nenagh singer Tom Creagh - who worked on The Rockier Road to Poland with Shane.
