One of the biggest Celtic supporters club's on the island of Ireland celebrated their 25-year anniversary over the weekend.

St Margaret's CSC marked the occasion in style as 390 people packed in to the City North Hotel in Co Meath, located 15 kilometres from where the club was founded in Duleek all those years ago.

Among them was former Hoops and Ireland boss Martin O'Neill, ex-midfielder Alan Thompson and legendary European Cup-winning goalkeeper John Fallon, while current Celtic captain Callum McGregor and manager Brendan Rodgers recorded videos from the Glasgow club's training base to send the Margaret's their best wishes.

The club, set up by using credit union loans to purchase three Celtic season tickets in 1998, has grown to 220 members and now has more than 130 season books.

Club chairman Adrian Hillman said of the night: "It was a fantastic night that was enjoyed by everyone. It was great to have Martin O'Neill, Alan Thompson and John Fallon in attendance.

"It's incredible to see where the club has come from in 25 years from just a small few of us in Duleek to members all around Ireland and beyond.

"We have had some great times over the years, but also some sad ones, and we always remember the great friends we have lost."

P.R.O of the club and editor of popular Celtic fanzine More Than 90 Minutes Andrew Milne added: "A celebration of friendship forged over 25 years traveling together home and away with one thing in common, Celtic FC.

"To have the gaffer Martin O Neill, Alan Thompson and Lisbon Lion John Fallon just added to a special occasion for 390 Celtic Fans who celebrated last night.

"The supporters club was formed for three reasons: To get people to Celtic Park, to raise money for charity and to remember Margaret Hillman, who is forever in our hearts."

The club, named after Adrian's sister Margaret who tragically died from cancer at the age of just 29, have raised over €150,000 for charities since their foundation and continued in doing so on Saturday night with a raffle taking place in aid of the Gary Kelly Cancer Centre, located in nearby Drogheda.

From Bosnia to Belgium, Russia to Romania and Austria to Aberdeen, the Margaret's have been represented all over Europe and beyond and will continue to do so for another 25 years and more.
