TJ Reid became the oldest hurler in 40 years to pick up an All-Star this week - but the Kilkenny great wasn't at Friday's banquet to pick up his award.

At 36 years of age, Reid became the oldest All-Star winner in hurling since 1983, when both Skehan and Frank Cummins were more senior than the Ballyhale Shamrocks man is now.

By winning his seventh All-Star, only Henry Shefflin (11), DJ Carey, Tommy Walsh, Pat Spillane (nine each) and Colm Cooper (eight) have more than Reid across both codes.

However, Reid, who celebrated his 36th birthday on Thursday, couldn't attend the awards ceremony as he was in Cheltenham for his brother Richie Reid's stag.

Kilkenny star Eoin Cody is also on the stag and wasn't at the RDS to pick up his award on Friday either, while former jockey David Mullins, nephew of champion trainer Willie Mullins, also caught up with the Kilkenny stars in the Cotswolds town.

Despite Reid not being able to make the lavish bask in Dublin, his wife Niamh de Brun still attended and looked to have an enjoyable evening.

Niamh shared a number of snaps on Instagram, with Conor McGregor's sister Erin among those to comment on the post. She wrote: "Omg I love this look on you. Love love love."

Posting on social media after receiving his seventh All-Star, Reid wrote on Thursday: "Celebrating my 36th birthday along with picking up an All Star award and getting a new coffee machine. A great day."
