Eight-time Irish Champion horse trainer Noel Meade appears to be on to a winner after his company reported accumulated profits of almost €2.5 million in its latest accounts.
Noel Meade Horse Trainer Limited, which was set up by the Meath man in 2003, almost quadrupled its annual profits last year, raking in a total of €129,586 during the 12-month period.
Meade, 72, is the sole shareholder of the firm, and is listed as a director alongside his wife, Derville, 52, who manages social media for the company and keeps owners informed with photo and video updates.
The horse training operation is based at Tu Va Stables in Castletown, Co Meath. Tu Va was Meade’s first horse, and provided the trainer with his first ever win at Wexford in August 1971.

He has since been named Irish Champion jump trainer eight times, including six in a row between 1999 and 2005, and has had nearly 3,000 winners during an illustrious career spanning five decades.
Accounts just filed for his company show it had accumulated profits of €2.48 million at the end of last year, including a cash pile of €831,212.
The firm had tangible assets valued at €146,109, which included long-leasehold property, gallops, fixtures and fittings, farm machinery, and computer equipment.
It was owed just over €1.6 million by debtors, including €282,098 from trade debtors, and €862,699 from group undertakings. Meanwhile, the firm owed its creditors €110,647, €41,142 related to taxation.
The company increased the number of people it employed to 33 from 29 last year, including the directors, who received remuneration of €75,000.
Its profit for the financial year was €129,586, representing a significant increase from the €34,761 reported in 2021.
Meade is one of the country’s most successful trainers, responsible for high-profile horses including Harchibald, Go Native, Panorama, and Road to Riches.
